Are you okay? As in actually okay, not the psychological equivalent of "running on biofoam and stubbornness."

Given how Baldwin's acting, the safe bet is he killed someone on camera and it blew back on him.

[She's designed to gather and analyze information. This isn't a hard one.]

[ Huh. The Chief will trust Cortana's analysis here, he's terrible at it. ]

That would explain a lot.

[ He shakes his head a little. ]

You worried about me?

[ The missing word here, of course, is "Why?" ]

[She's always worried about you because you have no sense of self-preservation.

But for this in particular, she answers the unvoiced question, albeit indirectly:]

Baldwin was way out of line.

[But she knew better than to throw gasoline on that dumpster fire, so instead of yelling at Robbie, she's checking on the Chief.]

[ He exhales. ]

He's upset at the Freelancers and America, I think.

...Maybe me, but only since I said something.

[ It's not about him and not about his history. Robbie's gotten pretty vocal that he doesn't care about people's histories and contexts here. It's not the worst case scenario, and while it's a mess? The Chief is grateful. ]

[Well, she's certainly not going to argue that the Freelancers aren't themselves a dumpster fire.]

Beeny's just blunt. She'll play by the rules. Baldwin wants everyone to like the rules.

[ The Chief alternates between having an idealistic liking for the rule and worrying that very idealism is going to screw them over. They're both from an unkind universe. ]

He's a kid who's never seen war. Doesn't know the moral high ground isn't a vantage you can shoot from.

I'll give him some of that was out of line, but those people got talked down. It shouldn't be an issue still.
